The Visitation Academy-Weddings, A Special Frederick Venue

On The Town Limousines likes to visit most of the venues that our Brides use so that we know ahead of time exactly what the venue looks like and the problems that we may encounter when arriving with large vehicles.  It also allows us to make personal contact with the Event Coordinators for these venues, and to hopefully become a preferred vendor for that site.

We recently had the opportunity to visit The Visitation Academy located in the heart of downtown Frederick.  It is one of those places you have passed many times and never knew what was behind the front door!  The Visitation Academy is an all girls school with a beautiful Chapel, Courtyard and Banquet Hall.

It was originally a cloistered monastery built in 1851, and is located at 200 E 2nd Street, Frederick Maryland 21701.  The buildings are steeped in history and the  grounds are perfect for photographs and an outside reception.  The Chapel is available for Catholic services only, with stained glass windows and an upper balcony which is perfect for a grand entrance by the bride and has a capacity for 150 guests.  There are also bridal rooms available adjacent to the Chapel where the bridal party can get ready in comfort.  Outside there are well maintained grounds for weddings of other denominations, tents can be erected if wished with the buildings providing a wonderful backdrop.  Receptions may be held in the grounds, or inside in the auditorium.
